Victim/Offender Mediation
V/O Mediation is a powerful process that allows a safe environment for victims to face the offender that has caused the harm. Victims get to see that the offender takes responsibility for their crime, to ask the questions that only the offender can answer and to negotiate a contract to repair the harm of the dispute or crime.

Parent-Teen Mediation
Families have disputes and conflict as a regular part of growing and stretching boundaries. Sometimes these conflicts become disruptive to the point of interfering with the balance of normal activities and responsibilities. At times like these, Resolution Works will meet with the family members to assist in determining the common goals and help the family members to shift their communication skills around conflict, working to restore a harmonious environment within the family – to help face the challenges of the world outside of the family.

ReThinking Drinking Program
In Colorado, it is against the law to possess, consume or purchase alcohol if you are under 21 years of age.

ReThinking Drinking, a program of Resolution Works, is a unique opportunity for juveniles - 17 and under - with a first time ticket for underage possession of alcohol.

The program uses a restorative justice approach to teach young offenders accountability, to develop an awareness of the impact their behavior has on their families and the community, and to take responsibility for their actions.  In several jurisdictions, this program is offered as an alternative to a first Minors in Possession charge. The course, which includes two 3-hour sessions, must be attended by the juvenile and two parents or guardians.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported that during the first eighteen months of the program, of the 241 juveniles who participated in the program, only one failed to complete the course and only three, or approximately one percent, received a second Minors in Possession ticket.

Juveniles, 17 years old and under, can be referred to the program by:

  • Law Enforcement

  • City or District Attorneys

  • School Officials

  • Probation Officers

  • Families

  • Community Members

Community Mediation:

Neighbors with conflict (dog barking, tree leaves dropping over the property line) often find themselves without an avenue to address the underlying issues. Our skilled mediators assist you, in a neutral environment, with the difficult conversations that allow community relations to be mended and create a peaceful living environment.

High Risk Victim Offender Dialogue
Meeting with individuals impacted by violent crime, our highly trained mediators/facilitators assist with a dialogue to allow for communication and questions to be asked and answered, information to be shared and situations to be processed.

Letters of Responsibility and Apology
These letters are a tool for assessing the responsibility that an offender takes for their crime. To succeed at writing a heartfelt apology requires the development of real empathy in the offender. Empathy is the best predictor of staying "straight". These letters are valuable to probation officers in assessing the viability of an offender's re-entry into society.

Public Dialogue
Public dialogue or circles is based on the theory that an active and engaged public is essential to a healthy community. Public dialogue allows citizens to have an impact upon and be a part of expanding awareness, building tolerance, educating others and having a role in the public decisions affecting their lives. Resolution Works is the connection between citizens and decision-makers in our changing world.
