S. Gabrielle Frey

Ms. Frey is a J.D. who has practiced restorative justice and mediation since 1990. She is experienced in community mediation programs, providing victim-offender, community, parent-teen and business mediation as well as high risk victim offender dialogue and facilitation for small groups and ongoing dialogic topics. Ms. Frey is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver University College and teaches graduate level courses in: Restorative Justice, Mediation, Negotiation and Arbitration. |

- Determine the organization's mission and purpose
- Ensure effective organizational planning
- Ensure that adequate resources are made available
- Ensure that resources are managed effectively
- Enhance the organization's public image
- Provide support and counsel for staff
- Conduct timely reviews of Director
- Hear grievances in the rarest of circumstances
- Ensure compliance with all laws governing non-profits
- Enact changes to bylaws when necessary

BOARD EXPECTATIONS (back to top) |
- Actively advocate Resolution Works and Restorative Justice in the Community
- Attend Board meetings and Board Retreats
- Participate in at least one committee and be willing to participate in an ad hoc committee when the need arises
- commit to the consensus decision making process
- Maintain confidentiality regarding internal affairs as discussed at Board meetings
- Support Resolution Works through participation in special events
- Support Resolution Works financially by giving on a personal level. We recognize that all may not be able to give equally. We suggest that all members give according to their means.

SELECTION PROCESS OF BOARD MEMBERS (back to top) |
Board Executive Committee develops and maintains a list of potential candidates. The candidate is contacted and provided with a packet of information including a Board Application.
- The application is submitted and circulated to all Board Members. References are checked. The candidate is invited to attend a Board meeting, followed by a meeting of one or more board members and staff.
- As vacancies become available, potential candidates are reviewed and proposed by the Board. A candidate is accepted by consensus of all Board members either by phone, email, or at a regular board meeting.
- If the candidate is approved to join the Board of Directors, a Resolution Works binder is sent including information on all by-laws, mission statement etc. A member of the Board will provide each new Board member with an introduction to the program and details of Board operation.
